It is always necessary to check the Tender Document of the project call, the requirements vary! If you are unsure, contact the Open Science Centrum. Tender Document: Standard grant projects 2025.
The Tender Document (varies from project to project, always check the exact wording of the call!):
Example from the tender documentation: It is advisable to publish the results in the Open Access form if the practice in the given field, the character of the results, and the terms and conditions for the Project so permit; alternatively, the publication results can be transferred to open digital archives pursuant to the terms and conditions of the publisher’s licence.
- https://doaj.org/. If you want to deposit publications in a repository, you can use Open repository of research and development results of the Mendel University in Brno for Publications. The Open Science Centum will be happy to help you upload your publication to the Open Repository. Open Access journals can be found at
Part C1 – justification of Project Proposal
h) a brief description of the research data, to be generated, used, and stored in the course of the Project, and how these data will be handled; in particular, information on the availability and dissemination of the research results and research data, in accordance with the principle that research results and research data are not made public only where justified (an update shall be provided with each Interim Report and Final Report); the Beneficiary agrees to submit a Data Management Plan (DMP) no later than the date of delivery of the first Interim Report, and to update the DMP periodically as needed;
- It is mandatory to specify in the proposal how you will manage the research data:
You can use the example text to describe research data management:
Note: Replace or add the yellow text according to reality!
"The project will generate XY data in ZX format using the YZ method.
The research data will be stored on a shared drive at department XY, which is backed up regularly.
The research data will be described, using: e.g. a laboratory journal/text file README/etc.
On the XY storage/e.g. workstation shared drive/e.g. OneDrive (O365), which is regularly backed up, will also store the source data for the project's publication outputs, in accordance with the principle of as open as possible as closed as necessary. The research data will be published in a repository such as Zenodo or in a national data repository from CESNET or in the XY domain repository. The data will be assigned a permanent DOI identifier and described with basic metadata.
The management of research data will be in line with FAIR principles and will be described in a Data Stewardship Plan to be created in the nástroji Data Stewardship Wizard / using the Horizon Europe template.."
The Beneficiary agrees to submit a Data Management Plan (DMP) on or before the date of the submission of the first Interim Report and to update the DMP regularly, as needed, and to submit it regularly as part of the Interim and Final Reports, including information on the availability and dissemination of the research results and research data. The updated research data management plan shall be included in the Interim and Final Reports. The research data management plan shall include, as a minimum, information on:
- (i) what kind of research data will be generated, processed or collected by the Beneficiary within the project;
- (ii) what methods and principles of data management will be used;
- (iii) whether and how the data will be shared, published and/or disclosed, and, where appropriate, an explanation of why the research data cannot be disseminated or disclosed (the Beneficiary shall not disclose information on research data the disclosure of which would unduly interfere with the intellectual property rights, trade secrets, national security and/or legitimate commercial interests of the Beneficiary or those of a third party);
- (iv) and how the data will be stored during the project and preserved after the project.
- Data Management Plan Information and consutation about
...the costs to acquire intangible assets as well as the costs of publishing the Project’s outputs (publishing and editorial costs, costs of publishing the results in the form of Open Access) may also be included among other services;
...cost of managing the research data, and costs of the creation of the Data Management Plan (DMP).
- If you want to publish in Open Access journals (the gold way), you can plan for the cost of APC fees in some projects. For journals, the APC fee for publishing an article in Open Access varies, but it is necessary to count on approximately 60 000 - 70 000 CZK per article including VAT (if charged). If you have data management costs, such as the need to purchase more storage, etc., you can budget for these costs.
