The MENDELU Library is a member of the National Centre for Electronic Information Resources CzechELib | VIDEO about Open Access CzechELib. Some publishers: American Chemical Society, De Gruyter, Taylor and Francis, Wiley, Springer Nature, Cambridge University Press a Royal Society of Chemistry have concluded new contracts for access to their journals, where vouchers for publishing in the Open Access journals of these publishers are also part of this contract. If the voucher is used, the author does not pay the fee for Open Access publishing (APC = Article Processing Charge).
REQUIREMENT: the corresponding author must have affiliation of Mendel University in Brno.
- Hybrid journals allow to publish articles that are available by subscription, and at the same time offer to publish some articles in Open Access for a fee.
- Gold Open Access journals: all journal articles are published in Open Access for a fee.
- APC fee (Article Processing Charge): fee for Open Access publishing.
When an article is submitted by the author to the magazine´s editorial system, the corresponding author is recognized by IP address, affiliation or institutional e-mail @mendelu.cz , system offers publication in the Open Access to the author. The publisher then informs the library, and after approval from the library, the voucher is used. The author does not pay the APC fee when using the voucher. The library approves or rejects the article; in case of rejection, the author cannot use the voucher and pays the APC fee. The university has a limited number of vouchers.

Informative list of journals with the option of free/discounted OA publishing (version 5, 15.03.2024) with filtres (publisher, institution, journals).
The discount is based on the e-mail domain @mendelu.cz of the corresponding author and the indication of the university's affiliation in the full text of the publication. If the corresponding author publishes together with corresponding authors of other institutions, it is necessary to agree on which institution has the voucher available at the time of publication and which institution will use it.

- After the peer review process, the publisher will contact you and send you a link to their system by e-mail.
- In the system, select Open Access publishing and Institutional Agreement: Mendel University in Brno (if you are not sure, please, contact us).
- The Open Science Center will automatically receive a request and approve/disapprove your discount based on the number of remaining vouchers.
- POnce approved, the Article Processing Charge (APC) will be zero, you will pay nothing.
- If the Open Science centrum does not approve the discount, you will pay the APC from the institute's funds, or it is possible to choose to publish under the subscription (the article won´t be Open Access).
PWhen publishing in Open Access, choosing a Creative Commons license is part of the Author Publishing Agreement. We recommend authors to choose the Creative Commons Attribution CC-BY license, in accordance with the requirements of some projects and with Plan S.
